Provides,monitors and records therapy services to patients/residents/clientswith physical, cognitive, developmental and psychosocialimpairments, in line with related standard concepts, practices andprocedures. Selects, implements, and makes modifications totherapeutic activities and interventions that are consistent withdemonstrated competency levels, patient’s/resident’s/client’sgoals, and the requirements of the practice setting and/or statelicensure. The certified occupational therapy assistant contributesto this process by exchanging information with and providingdocumentation to the occupational therapist about thepatient’s/resident’s/client’s responses to and communicationsduring intervention. Responsible for being knowledgeable about thepatient’s/resident’s/client’s targeted occupational therapyoutcomes and for providing information and documentation related tooutcome achievement. Follows and adheres to accepted clinicalpractice guidelines of professional organization. As needed,performs other related duties as requested. Depending on locationand facility needs, work may focus on those receiving interventionin the post-acute, long term care, and home health careenvironments. Qualifications Appropriate education level requiredin accordance with state licensure. Must be licensed as anOccupational Therapy Assistant in the state(s) of practice. Whenworking at a Sanford Health Facility (not required but preferredfor GSS Facilities): Must also be certified as an OccupationalTherapy Assistant through the National Board for Certification inOccupational Therapy (NBCOT). Conforms to the supervision andlicensing standards of the state(s) where services are provided.
When applicable, may require valid driver’s license. Basic LifeSupport (BLS) certification required within six months ofemployment.
