Job Description:

We are looking for a committed and patient-focused OccupationalTherapist to develop, recover or maintain the daily living and workskills of people with physical, mental or developmental conditions.

You will offer effective and client-centered services that willenable people to confidently and independently carry out everydaytasks or activities. The successful candidate will have an holisticperspective and will be able to adapt the environment to fit theperson.

• Responsibilities
• Address clients aspects of performanceto support engagement in occupations that affect health, well-beingand life quality
• Select and adapt the appropriate per caseoccupational therapy treatment model, method and approach to directthe process of interventions
• Apply interventions to maximizesafety and performance in activities of daily living (ADL) andinstrumental activities of daily living (IADL)
• Teach clients newways of approaching tasks and educate them on how to break downactivities into achievable components
• Assess clients home andother environments and advice on alterations consistent with theirneeds and capabilities
• Recommend adaptive equipment and train inits use
• Guide and educate family members and caregivers
• Observe,note, and report on progress of long and short term treatmentgoals
• Collect data and document processes followed
• Regularlyfollow-up client

• Resident Rights:

• Promptly reports resident grievancesto the rehabilitation supervisors; treats all resident careinformation with confidentiality; continuously monitors assignedareas to ensure residents are treated fairly and with dignity andrespect at all times; conducts rehabilitation care in privacy,including knocking on the door prior to entering a residents room;honors resident refusal of treatments and reports to rehabilitationsupervisors.

• Safety Awareness:

• Follows safety programguidelines; immediately reports accidents and incidents tosupervisors; identifies unsafe working areas and promptly reportsto supervisors; promotes safety by working as safely andefficiently as possible; monitors resident rooms to ensure it isclean and neat at all times; consistently follows infection controland universal precautions and other guidelines; identifies andcorrects or reports hazardous conditions to supervisors;understands facility emergency and evacuation protocols.

• Organizational and Communication Skills:

• Handles multipleresidents simultaneously; completes assignments in an organizedfashion by the end of scheduled shifts; operates with flexibilityand shows attention to detail when recording information inresident charts; possesses effective verbal and nonverbalcommunication skills and is an attentive listener.

• CustomerService:

• Treats all residents, families, co-workers andsupervisors with dignity and respect and takes initiative to exceedcustomer expectations; professional represents the facility, selfand position to visitors and residents; demonstrates a positiveattitude and willingness to help to all visitors and residents;remains sensitive to all needs through listening, observing andresponding appropriately for the position held.
• Skills
• Provenworking experience as occupational therapist
• Excellent knowledgeof principles and practices of occupational therapy
• Hands-onexperience with computer programs and creative media
• Familiaritywith ADLs evaluation tools ( e.g. Katz ADL scale, Lawton IADLscale)
• Ability to manage patients with different types ofpersonalities
• Current knowledge of treatment practices perdiscipline and drive to continually learn and grow in theprofession
• Professional behavior
• Excellent interpersonalcommunication skills
• Valid licence to practice occupationaltherapy
• BS degree or greater in occupational therapy
