Position Summary:

The COTA Certified Occupational TherapistAssistant provides direct rehab care in occupational therapy topatients upon physician referral under the supervision of alicensed Occupational Therapist (OT) in accordance with allapplicable laws, regulations, and Life Care standards.

Education,Experience, and Licensure Requirements:
  • NBCOT certified upon hire,but renewal is optional going forward
  • Graduate of an accreditedprogram in occupational therapy (ASOT)
  • Currentlyregistered/licensed in applicable State. Must maintain an activelicense in good standing throughout employment.
  • One (1) yearexperience in post acute care or related setting preferred
  • CPRcertification upon hire or obtain during orientation.

CPRcertification must remain current during employment.

Specific JobRequirements:
  • Participates in community health matters/projects asappropriate
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and e mail
  • Liaisons with patients, families, support departments, etc., toadequately plan for patient needs
  • Demonstrate good body mechanicsat all times
  • Make independent decisions when circumstances warrantsuch action
  • Knowledgeable of practices and procedures as well asthe laws, regulations, and guidelines governing functions in thepost acute care facility
  • Implement and interpret the programs,goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the department
  • Perform proficiently in all competency areas including but notlimited to: patient rights, and safety and sanitation
  • Maintainsprofessional working relationships with all associates, vendors,etc.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all proprietary and/orconfidential information
  • Understand and follow company policiesincluding harassment and compliance procedures
  • Displays integrityand professionalism by adhering to Life Cares Code of Conduct andcompletes mandatory Code of Conduct and other appropriatecompliance training
Essential Functions:
  • Follow occupationaltreatment plans for patients under the direction of the supervisingOT
  • Chart appropriately and timely
  • Utilize therapy softwareappropriately and accurately
  • Exhibit excellent customer serviceand a positive attitude towards patients
  • Assist in the evacuationof patients
  • Demonstrate dependable, regular attendance
  • Concentrate and use reasoning skills and good judgment
  • Communicateand function productively on an interdisciplinary team
  • Sit, stand,bend, lift, push, pull, stoop, walk, reach, and move intermittentlyduring working hours
