North 3rd Avenue, Highland Park, NJ 08904 Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented bilingual (Creole Speaking) Ophthalmic Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care in an ophthalmology clinic setting. This position involves assisting ophthalmologists with various tasks, ensuring a smooth workflow, and maintaining accurate medical records. The Ophthalmic Technician will be responsible for performing preliminary examinations and tests, as well as supporting the front desk operations. Duties Conduct preliminary eye examinations, including measuring visual acuity and performing tonometry. Assist with diagnostic tests such as visual field testing, OCT, and fundus photography. Record and maintain accurate medical records in compliance with clinic protocols. Provide patient education regarding procedures and eye health. Manage front desk responsibilities, including scheduling appointments and handling patient inquiries. Take and record vital signs as needed. Collaborate with ophthalmologists to ensure efficient patient flow and care. Support pediatric patients with a compassionate approach during examinations. Utilize knowledge of medical terminology and coding to assist in documentation processes. Qualifications Previous experience in a medical office or clinic setting is preferred. Familiarity with medical records management and medical terminology is essential. Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients and staff. Ability to perform retail sales functions if applicable within the clinic environment. Knowledge of retail math may be beneficial for managing inventory or sales-related tasks. Experience working with pediatric patients is a plus but not required. Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems is advantageous.
