Certified Optometric Technician Drake Eye Center 697 Highway 31 NW, Hartselle, AL 35640 Job Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented Optometric Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will assist in providing excellent patient care and support to our optometrists in a clinic setting. Duties Perform preliminary testing on patients including measuring visual acuity, intraocular pressure, and color vision testing Obtain patient medical history and chief complaint Assist with contact lens insertion and removal training Conduct diagnostic testing such as visual field testing and retinal imaging Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient information in electronic health records (EHR) systems Clean and maintain ophthalmic equipment and instruments Educate patients on proper eyewear care and contact lens hygiene Qualifications Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality Experience in sales or customer service is beneficial Familiarity with medical billing procedures Understanding of optical terminology and equipment Proficiency in EHR systems like Epic for documentation Basic medical coding knowledge is a plus Strong physiology knowledge related to eye anatomy and function Previous experience working in a clinic environment is advantageous Ability to perform tasks such as taking vital signs and administering eye drops
