  • Job Summary
  • We are seeking a personable and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our ophthalmologist. The Ophthalmic Technician will be responsible for performing various duties related to eye exams, medical billing, and patient care.
  • Duties
  • Conduct visual acuity tests and administer eye drops as directed by ophthalmologists.
  • Measure and record patients’ peripheral vision, eye motility and pupils.
  • Assist with eye exams and diagnostic tests, including tonometry, autorefration, formal visual field testing, OCT testing, fundus photography and preparation for laser procedures.
  • Prepare patients for examinations and maintain a clean and organized exam room.
  • Manage medical records and patient data, ensuring accuracy and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Provide assistance with patient care, including answering questions about eye care and providing recommendations for eye drops and glasses.
  • Assist with operating medical billing systems to ensure accurate and timely submission of claims.
  • Other tasks required include checking patients in and out, answering phones, scheduling patient appointments and obtaining prior authorizations for medications and surgeries.
  • Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of a certified ophthalmic technician (COT) program or equivalent experience preferred, but not required.
  • Experience with medical billing systems and electronic health records (EHRs) preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively in an intimate clinic environment.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
