They are able to handle a wide range of duties while using equipment to perform the initial testing needed to prepare a patient for an exam with an Ophthalmologist.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performing Visual Field tests, OCT, B-scan, Fundus Photo, Topography, AR, ERG.
- Knowledge of ophthalmic anatomy, physiology, and diseases
- Proficient in performing diagnostic tests and measurements.
- Ability to operate and maintain ophthalmic equipment.
- Provide exceptional customer service during every patient encounter.
- Display a professional attitude, greet patients promptly with a smile, and demonstrate patience throughout the patient testing process.
- Perform several different diagnostic tests on patients of all ages and mobility.
- Provide a brief explanation of each test to patients so they understand what role the test is playing in their diagnosis and care.
- Interface each test result to the patient’s electronic medical record.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS
- Maintains professionalism in interactions with patients and coworkers.
- Exhibits a positive attitude and is flexible in accepting work assignments and priorities.
- Meets attendance, tardiness expectations.
- Dependable and follows policies and procedures.
- Computer skills and EMR experience is preferred.
- High Schol Diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience in a Medical setting (preferably in an Ophthalmology practice).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients and healthcare team.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and record keeping.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Empathy and compassion towards patients with vision impairments.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Periods of sitting, prolonged standing, some bending, stooping, lifting, and stretching

$16.00 – $18.00 per hour Expected hours: 40 per week
