ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Ophthalmic Technician is responsible for several tasks within the clinic setting, most of which are delegated by the physician. This is the role where key information is obtained from the patient for the physician’s retinal exam. As the ophthalmic technician, you may also be responsible for assisting patients with their necessary paperwork. You will also be responsible for performing diagnostic tests and/or obtaining measurements for the physician to determine the patient’s diagnosis and treatment plan. In short, the ophthalmic technician is the facilitator for the clinic. Listed below are just some of the many duties in which the ophthalmic technician is responsible for. Documentation of patient complaint(s), medications and history Visual acuity Tonometry (icare tonometer, applanation with slit lamp) Fluorescein Angiography Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) Fundus Photography Obtain Informed Consents Prepping and assisting with in office procedures Scribe for the physician Maintain consistent attendance, personal appearance, punctuality and adherence to applicable health and safety procedures
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Experience in an ophthalmology clinic, preferably retina, with the above duties is Preferred. Basic anatomy and physiology is preferred. Will train the right candidate but you must have the initiative to learn.
PREFERRED SKILLS
Attention to detail is required. Must be able to work in a fast paced environment while being courteous, professional and organized to not only the patients and the physicians but to your fellow employees as well. Must be able to work well as a team. Strong work-ethic and superb attendance is required.
ADDITIONAL NOTES
Paid travel between all 4 locations is required. We have a company vehicle that is primarily used for our travel between offices. A comprehensive employee benefit package is offered after a 90-day probationary period.
