Hours:
35-40 hours per week Reports to: Dr. Shaminder Bhullar, Owner Summary of duties : The ophthalmic technician is responsible for coordinating patient activities, assisting in patient work-up, managing practice communications, and providing office organization in a manner that enhances patient satisfaction and contributes to sustained practice efficiency and growth. Responsibilities and Duties Technician Optimize patient’s satisfaction and provider time by communicating in brief and positive statements that reflect the caring and professional culture at RTC Obtain patient history, perform initial portion of eye exam, including vision check, visual field check, extra-ocular motions, pupils, mental status, eye pressure, and dilation Anticipate and prepare necessary imaging or ocular procedures Move the patient efficiently through the clinical space for work-up, imaging, and examination Maintain clinical inventory and readiness of the examination rooms Assist with other clinical and administrative tasks as required
Qualifications and Skills Education:
High School Diploma Knowledge and skill requirements: Ability to establish and maintain professional, pleasant working relationships with patients, coworkers, vendors, and the public Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in the English language Able to maintain and comply with patient confidentiality and integrity policy Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word, email, data entry, and typing Ability to file, fax, and manage the phones appropriately Understanding of basic medical office administrative procedures, such as record-keeping, inventory, insurance verification, accepting patient payments, scheduling, and patient privacy Understanding of medical history taking and basic medical terminology Must be able to lift 25 pounds from floor to waist on a periodic basis. Must be able to push, pull, bend and reach. Ability to manage the occasional upset patient in an effort to effectively resolve the issue Reliable transportation to office and between satellite offices 1-2x per week.
