Full Job Description Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometric Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in a medical setting and be proficient in aseptic technique, medical terminology, and anatomy knowledge. This role requires a strong focus on customer service and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Duties:
  • Assist optometrists in the examination of patients, including taking vital signs and conducting visual acuity tests.
  • Perform visual field tests, operate optical equipment, and handle medical records with discretion.
  • Administer eye drops and administer inhalers as prescribed by the optometrist.
  • Provide patient education on eye care and treatment options.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to aseptic technique at all times.
  • Handle medical billing and insurance claims.
  • Keep up-to-date with HIPAA regulations and ensure patient confidentiality.
  • Participate in pediatric and adult eye exams, demonstrating a patient-centered approach.
  • Utilize sales skills to promote products and services to patients.
  • Stay current with new technologies and techniques in the field of optometry.
Qualifications:
  • (Bilingual
  • Spanish Preferred)
  • At least 1 year of experience as an Optometric Technician is strongly preferred .
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Post-secondary education in a related field, such as ophthalmic technology or medical assisting, is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of anatomy and physiology knowledge.
  • Proficiency in medical terminology and medical records management.
  • Experience with aseptic technique and vital signs.
  • Ability to work in a pediatric and adult setting.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Sales experience is a plus.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing situations.
