Full Job Description Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometric Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in a medical setting and be proficient in aseptic technique, medical terminology, and anatomy knowledge. This role requires a strong focus on customer service and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Duties:
- Assist optometrists in the examination of patients, including taking vital signs and conducting visual acuity tests.
- Perform visual field tests, operate optical equipment, and handle medical records with discretion.
- Administer eye drops and administer inhalers as prescribed by the optometrist.
- Provide patient education on eye care and treatment options.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to aseptic technique at all times.
- Handle medical billing and insurance claims.
- Keep up-to-date with HIPAA regulations and ensure patient confidentiality.
- Participate in pediatric and adult eye exams, demonstrating a patient-centered approach.
- Utilize sales skills to promote products and services to patients.
- Stay current with new technologies and techniques in the field of optometry.
Qualifications:

- Spanish Preferred)
- At least 1 year of experience as an Optometric Technician is strongly preferred .
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Post-secondary education in a related field, such as ophthalmic technology or medical assisting, is preferred.
- Strong understanding of anatomy and physiology knowledge.
- Proficiency in medical terminology and medical records management.
- Experience with aseptic technique and vital signs.
- Ability to work in a pediatric and adult setting.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Sales experience is a plus.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing situations.
