Full Job Description Responsibilities:
- Assist ophthalmologists in providing patient care during eye exams and procedures
- Perform diagnostic tests and measurements, such as visual acuity, tonometry, and lensometry
- Prepare patients for examinations by taking medical histories and documenting current medications
- Administer eye drops and medications as directed by the ophthalmologist
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records of patient information and test results
- Clean and maintain ophthalmic instruments and equipment
- Educate patients on proper eye care, contact lens use, and post-operative care instructions
Experience:
- Previous experience as an ophthalmic technician or in a related field preferred
- Knowledge of ophthalmology procedures, equipment, and terminology
- Familiarity with medical coding and billing processes
- Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately record patient information
- Excellent interpersonal skills for effective patient communication and care
- Proficiency in using electronic medical record (EMR) systems
- Understanding of basic anatomy, physiology, and ocular diseases
