Full Job Description Job Summary:

The Ophthalmic Technician performs a range of duties that prepare the patient to see the doctor. It is direct patient care, with on the job training.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Obtain medical and eye history from patient Documenting information using an EMR (electronic medical record) Prepare examination and treatment rooms Perform screening and testing to prepare the patient for the doctor’s exam.

This includes:

Visual acuity Color vision screening Auto and manual lensometry Auto and manual refraction Tonometry Amsler grid Pupil evaluation Other testing as needed Administer eye medications May assist physicians during minor surgical procedures Maintain and calibrate ophthalmic equipment Refill and prescribe medication on doctor’s behalf Complete prior authorizations for patient medication Required Skills/Abilities Exceptional Customer service

  • Utilizes technology, innovation, and process improvements to continuously improve efficiency and effectiveness Participates in teamwork , establishes strong working relationships with teammates Celebrates change , receptive to new ideas and responds positively to change Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent required We are willing to train Medical experience preferred but not required Physical Requirements Sitting, standing, bending, reaching, stooping, walking, lifting Ability to see, hear and speak with sufficient capability to perform assigned tasks Driving independently to other facilities Working Conditions Travel to other locations is necessary Occupational exposure•Category II exposure to blood-borne pathogens and may encounter chemical hazards.
