In this role, you will play a crucial part in providing exceptional patient care within our ophthalmology practice. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of anatomy and physiology, as well as familiarity with medical terminology and coding. Your responsibilities will include assisting with patient examinations, managing front desk tasks, and ensuring a smooth workflow in the clinic. Responsibilities Assist ophthalmologists during patient examinations by preparing the examination room and ensuring all necessary equipment is ready for use. Conduct preliminary tests such as measuring visual acuity, taking vital signs, and performing basic eye tests. Document patient medical histories accurately and maintain organized patient records using electronic health record systems like Epic. Provide excellent patient care by addressing patient inquiries and ensuring their comfort throughout their visit. Manage front desk operations including scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and handling patient check-ins and check-outs. Understand and apply medical coding for procedures performed during examinations to ensure accurate billing. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinical area to promote a safe environment for patients and staff. Experience Previous experience as an ophthalmic assistant is required Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology is essential for effective communication with patients and healthcare providers. Familiarity with electronic health records systems (preferably Epic) is advantageous. Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on providing high-quality patient care. Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also being self-motivated to manage individual responsibilities effectively.
