Ophthalmic Technician Tonica Johnson, MD Durham, NC 27704 Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in assisting ophthalmologists in providing high-quality eye care. This position requires a strong understanding of anatomy, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced medical office environment. The Ophthalmic Technician will be responsible for performing various clinical tasks, and maintaining accurate records. Full Time or Part-Time, depending on candidate’s desire Required Skills Manifest Refractions Goldmann Aplanation VFs OCTS Responsibilities Conduct preliminary eye examinations, including taking patient histories and vital signs. Assist with diagnostic tests such as visual field testing, tonometry, and retinal imaging. Prepare patients for examination by the ophthalmologist, ensuring they are comfortable and informed. Maintain aseptic technique during procedures and ensure compliance with safety protocols. Document patient information accurately in electronic health record systems Educate patients on eye care procedures and post-operative instructions. Collaborate with the medical team to provide exceptional patient care Experience Knowledge of anatomy relevant to ophthalmology is essential. Familiarity with aseptic techniques and best practices in a medical office setting. Previous experience working in ophthalmology is required Proficiency in using electronic health record systems Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with patients and healthcare professionals.
