In this role, you will play a vital part in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our optometrists in delivering high-quality eye care services. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical office procedures, patient interaction, and an understanding of optical anatomy. Responsibilities Assist optometrists during patient examinations by preparing the examination room and ensuring all necessary equipment is ready for use. Perform preliminary tests such as visual acuity, tonometry, and retinal imaging to gather essential data for the optometrist. Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality. Provide excellent patient care by addressing questions, explaining procedures, and ensuring a comfortable experience. Manage front desk operations including scheduling appointments, checking patients in and out, and handling insurance verification. Utilize retail math skills to assist patients with eyewear purchases and provide recommendations based on their needs. Uphold aseptic techniques to maintain a clean and safe environment for both patients and staff. Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow within the practice. Skills Proficient in medical office procedures with experience in front desk operations. Strong knowledge of anatomy related to the eye and vision care. Familiarity with electronic health record systems such as Epic is preferred. Excellent patient care skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations. Understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy is maintained at all times. Basic retail math skills for assisting patients with eyewear purchases. Ability to perform tasks requiring attention to detail while adhering to aseptic techniques in a clinical setting.
