Position Summary:
We have an excitingopportunity to join our team as a Faculty Group Practice OphthalmicTechnician – Per Diem – Huntington. In this role, the successfulcandidate will test and measure eye function to assistOphthalmologist to diagnose and treat eye disorders and disease:
Tests patient’s far acuity, near acuity, peripheral vision, depthperception, and color perception to assist Ophthalmologist todiagnose and treat eye disorders and disease. Examines eye, usingslit lamp, for abnormalities of cornea, and anterior and posteriorchambers. Applies drops to anesthetize, dilate, or medicate eyes.
Measures intraocular pressure of eyes (glaucoma test). Testspatient’s field of vision, including central and peripheral vision,for defects, and charts test results on graph paper. Measures axiallength of eye, using ultrasound equipment. Performs other tests andmeasurements as requested by physician.
Job Responsibilities:
Performs other duties as assigned. All Patient Correspondenceincluding but not limited to: Disability Forms, Patient Education,Surgical Consent Forms. Slit Lamp Examinations Completes MedicalHistory, Lensometry, Auto Refracting, Pam Testing, Glare Testing.
Performs all aspects of visual acuity testing and Visual FieldTesting.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a HighSchool Diploma or equivalent required. Five (5) or more years ofexperience as an Ophthalmic Technician in a retina practicepreferred. Certified Opthalmic Assistant (COA) from a JointCommission for Allied Health Personnel (JCAHPO) approvedinstitutional course preferred or working towards obtainingcertification.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preferable 5 yearsexperience in Retina Practice. Certified Ophthalmic AssistantQualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate withall levels of the organization.
