Ophthalmic Technician Vision Care Associates, Ltd Westerly, RI 02891 OPHTHALMIC
TECHNICIAN
The Ophthalmic Technician performs patient screening, testing, and evaluation in preparation for the patient’s appointment with a doctor. Working knowledge of eye anatomy, disease, symptoms, and ocular medications preferred.
Requirements for ophthalmic technician:
Obtain ophthalmic history from patient including the presenting complaint, past ocular history, illnesses, medications, allergies, and reactions to drugs, etc. Prepare examination and treatment rooms Perform patient workups (including distance and near visual acuity, pupil evaluation, lensometry, auto-refractometry, refraction, intraocular pressure measurements and dilation) in a friendly and efficient manner. Perform other testing to include color vision testing, keratometry, Amsler grid, automated visual field testing, OCT retinal and optic nerve scanning. May assist physicians during minor surgical procedures. Take patient phone calls to assess complaints and triage the urgency of examination. Maintain, clean and sterilize ophthalmic surgical instruments Adhere to all OSHA and Infectious Waste procedures. Critical thinking skills and a positive attitude are essential for the ophthalmic technician position. This is a small medical practice and cross training in certain areas is required to help run the office smoothly when things get busy.

Schedule:
Mon-Fri for F/T. We are willing to train but pay commensurate with experience.
