The ideal candidate will assist ophthalmologists in various clinical tasks, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow while delivering high-quality service to our patients. This role requires a blend of technical skills, knowledge of anatomy and physiology, and excellent interpersonal abilities. Responsibilities Assist ophthalmologists during examinations and procedures by preparing patients and equipment. Conduct preliminary tests such as visual acuity assessments, tonometry, and pupil dilation. Maintain accurate patient records using electronic health record systems like Epic. Educate patients on pre-operative and post-operative care instructions. Handle medical billing processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with insurance requirements. Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment, adhering to aseptic techniques. Provide support in optical retail settings, assisting patients with frame selection and lens options. Collaborate with team members to optimize patient flow and enhance overall clinic efficiency. Qualifications Knowledge of ophthalmology, including anatomy and physiology related to the eye. Familiarity with optical products and retail sales practices is preferred. Experience with medical billing processes is advantageous. Proficiency in using electronic health record systems, particularly Epic, is a plus. Strong attention to detail with the ability to perform tasks accurately in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with patients and healthcare professionals. Aseptic technique knowledge is essential for maintaining patient safety during procedures. Previous experience in a clinical or retail setting related to eye care is desirable but not mandatory. Requirements Preferred experience working in a ophthalmic environment. Certified Ophthalmic Assistant by JCAHPO or certification equivalent. Great communicator but someone with excellent interpersonal skills.
