Job Description

Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) All’s Well, SC Charleston, SC We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will assist ophthalmologists in delivering exceptional patient care by performing diagnostic tests, providing patient education, and supporting clinical operations. The position requires a detail-oriented individual with strong communication skills and a commitment to enhancing patient experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

Patient Interaction and Evaluation Greet patients and perform initial assessments, including gathering medical histories and identifying the reason for the visit Conduct pre-examination procedures, such as measuring visual acuity, assessing pupillary reactions, and testing visual fields Ensure accurate documentation of patient information and exam results in electronic medical records. Implement strategies to boost patient satisfaction and streamline patient flow in the clinics Diagnostic Testing and Procedures Administer a variety of ophthalmic diagnostic tests, such as tonometry, lensometry, and ocular imaging.

Administrative and Operational Duties:

Maintain and organize clinical supplies and equipment inventory. Assist with the calibration and maintenance of ophthalmic equipment to ensure optimal performance. Adhere to safety and sterilization protocols to maintain a clean and efficient clinical environment. Collaborate with administrative staff to ensure smooth patient flow and scheduling.• Precept new staff Manage in basket messaging Drawing up lidocaine to assist physicians.

Qualifications:

Certification as a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) by JCAHPO (or equivalent certification). Prior experience in an ophthalmic setting is preferred. Strong attention to detail, with excellent organizational and multitasking skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients and team members.
