Job Description SummaryThe Storm Eye Institute
- Storm Eyetreats adult and pediatric patients across the tri-county area.
Itincludes specialties such as general ophthalmology, glaucoma,retina, cornea, oculoplastic, and optometry. Performs advanced medical history, checks patient’s visual acuity,dilates patient’s eyes. Performs basic slit-lamp exam, visualfields, color vision tests, lensometry, tonometry, keratometry, andrefractometry. Assists with office surgical procedures. Maintainscomplete and accurate information in the patient’s medical record.
Prepares and maintains exam rooms to ensure they are adequatelystocked with supplies and that all equipment and instruments are inproper working order. Prepare instruments for sterilization. Screenpatient phone calls and questions.

Job Summary/Purpose:
- Performs advanced medical history, checkspatient’s visual acuity, dilates patient’s eyes.

Maintains complete and accurate information inthe patient’s medical record. Required Minimum Training and Education:
- High school diploma orequivalent and two years of specialized ophthalmic experience.
- Completion of either a two year Certified Ophthalmic Technician,Certified Ophthalmic Assistant program or equivalent.
Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations:
- JCAHPOcertification as a COT or COA required.
Current American HeartAssociation (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification orAmerican Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification isrequired.
Additional Job Description Physical Requirements:
- Continuous requirements are to perform jobfunctions while standing, walking and sitting. Ability to bend atthe waist, kneel, climb stairs, reach in all directions, fully useboth hands and legs, possess good finger dexterity, performrepetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders, reach inall directions. Ability to be qualified physically for respiratoruse, initially and as required.
- Maintain 20/40 vision corrected,see and recognize objects close at hand and at a distance, work ina latex safe environment and work indoors.
- Frequently lift,lower, push and pull and/or carry objects weighing 50 lbs (+
- )unassisted, exert up to 50 lbs of force, lift from 36″ to overhead25 lbs.
- Infrequently work in dusty areas and confined/crampedspaces.
