Ophthalmic Technician- Vision development and vision rehabilitation Company intro: East Tennessee Binocular Vision Center is an optometric practice that emphasizes vision development and rehabilitation through vision therapy. Founded in 2017, we provide primary eye care and optical services via our West Knoxville and North Knoxville locations. Our identity as a practice is founded upon vision therapy and binocular vision care; we also see patients with a variety of eye health conditions and work with patients of all ages and backgrounds.
Job description:
The ophthalmic technician assists our optometrists with providing comprehensive eye care. Technicians are responsible for working up patients, developing patient rapport, performing testing and imaging as directed by the optometrist, and scribing exams. Additional responsibilities include ensuring exam rooms are prepped and clean, triaging phone calls, scheduling appointments, and any other clinical or clerical duties assigned. Any applicant must have a caring demeanor, a desire to work enthusiastically and extensively with children and patients with special needs, and a passion for learning new techniques. Good candidates for this position will be able to help resolve patient questions and conflicts in a professional and efficient manner, and will demonstrate strong self-motivation and work ethic. Requirements of this position include strong verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, punctuality and reliability, and ability to maintain patient confidentiality. A high school diploma or equivalent, minimum 1 year experience in optometry or similar healthcare field, proficiency and minimum 1 year experience with EMR/EHR software are also required. Starting pay is negotiable depending on experience. Location:
Our practice has two locations: the Cedar Bluff area in West Knoxville and off Callahan Dr in North Knoxville. Both offices have easy access to the interstate. The applicant should expect to work in North Knoxville three days per week and West Knoxville twice per week.
