Responsibilities:
GENERAL PURPOSE
Supports site leadership in ensuring that all optical quality controls, including daily cash reconciliation, are in compliance at assigned satellite optical locations. Assists retail optical customers and patients with high end eyewear selection. Focuses on achievement of specific goals in the areas of customer service, eyewear sales, and profitability.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Assists patients and visitors in selecting appropriate eyewear. Assists optician in educating patients about frame selection, lens options, and accessories. Answers practice phones and greets incoming visitors, offering the customer a warm reception. Schedules appointments for eye examination with optometrist. Answers correspondence and other inquiries, including authorizing insurance benefits prior to visit and as needed during the encounter, calling customers to schedule frame or contact lens pickups with Optician, confirming patient appointments, and assisting in ensuring patients arrive to correct location for exam and eyewear. Assists Optometrist with basic patient work-up, including rooming the patient, history taking, visual acuity assessment, and neutralization of existing eyeglasses. Coordinates referral visits and general communications. Checks out patients, schedules follow-up visits and processes payments. Uses POS software program for ordering and inventory. Organizes and shines frames, clean lenses, and display cases. Assists in keeping optical and desk area and visitor areas neat and clean. Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
High School diploma and completion of Vision Care 1, 2, 3 courses or associate’s degree required Or equivalent combination of education and experience
