The ideal candidate will be proficient in conducting comprehensive eye examinations, diagnosing visual and ocular health issues, and prescribing corrective lenses or treatments. This role involves working collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Key Responsibilities:

Perform comprehensive eye and vision examinations. Diagnose and manage ocular diseases and disorders. Prescribe eyeglasses, contact lenses, and medications as necessary. Provide pre- and post-operative care for patients undergoing eye surgeries. Educate patients on eye health, preventive care, and treatment options. Maintain accurate patient records and documentation. Stay updated with advancements in optometric practices and technologies.

Qualifications:
Education:

Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited optometry school.

Licensure:

Active and unrestricted license to practice optometry in Louisiana, issued by the Louisiana State Board of Optometry Examiners.

Certifications:

Current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).

Preferred Qualifications:

Louisiana:

To practice optometry in Louisiana, candidates must: Pass all parts of the National Board of Examiners in Optometry (NBEO) examination, including the Treatment and Management of Ocular Disease (TMOD) section. Complete annual continuing education requirements:

12 hours for general practice or 16 hours if certified to treat ocular pathology. Possess current CPR certification and have an operable automatic epinephrine injector in the office.
