POSITION SUMMARY
WellPartners is a free eye clinic located within the Richland County Health Department in Columbia, South Carolina. The Optometrist works in our fast-paced Public Health Optometry practice, specializing in comprehensive eye care and vision examinations. The optometrist is assisted by an ophthalmic technician who will assist the optometrist in preparing patients for examination, setting up instruments for procedures, assisting with patient flow management, and processing clinic orders and patient referrals. Flexible work hours are 9:00 a.m.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide primary vision care and manage ocular eye disease to your comfort level. Examine patients’ eyes to diagnose vision problems and eye diseases, test their visual acuity, depth and color perception, and ability to focus and coordinate their eyes, and prescribe eyeglasses. Analyze test results and develop a treatment plan. Administer drugs to patients to aid in the diagnosis of vision problems and prescribe drugs to treat some eye diseases. Provide preoperative and postoperative care to cataract patients, as well as to patients who have had laser vision correction or other eye surgery. Diagnose conditions caused by systemic diseases such as diabetes and high blood pressure, referring patients to other health practitioners as needed.
REQUIRED & PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS A
Doctor of Optometry degree, O.D. licensed to practice in SC (or pending), is required. Excellent clinical and communication skills are also required. New Graduates are welcome to apply. 1+ years of experience in Optometry or Ophthalmology practice. Current Basic Life Support certification (BLS)
