Performs evaluation andtreatment of adult and pediatric patients with disorders of thevisual system, with an emphasis on binocular vision and eyemovement disorders. Performs strabismus evaluation including motortesting, evaluation of Fresnel and spectacle prisms, convergenceexercises, and orthoptic treatment. Responsibilities also includeinfant and pediatric vision assessment, retinoscopy, andrefraction. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLHMission, Vision and Values. What youwill do Performs patient screening examinations. Provides patienttesting and assessment. Provides Orthoptic treatment.

Physical Demands The physical activities of this positionmay include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking,reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion. Musthave good balance and coordination. The physical requirements ofthis position are: medium work – exerting up to 50 lbs. of forceoccasionally and/or up to 25 lbs. of force frequently. TheAssociate is required to have close visual acuity including color,depth perception, and field of vision to perform an activity, suchas assessing patients, preparing and analyzing data and figures;transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading.

Frequent invasive and non-invasive patient contact. Exposure topatient body fluids as well as exposure to hazardous or poisonousmaterials. Ability to react quickly to emergency situations.
