OVERVIEW
OPCA Jacksonville is looking to hire a
PART-TIME
(20-25 hrs/week) CPO with the role eventually transitioning to a full-time role in approximately 8 months-1 year. This position is a Junior CPO role that will work under the guidance of the Practice Manager/OPCA Clinical Director. The experience level needed for this role ranges from Board-Eligible CPO to a CPO with any number of years in the field. This role will eventually require after-hours on-call as part of our business plan. Responsibilities The CPO will provide orthotic and prosthetic care to patients with a myriad of musculoskeletal conditions, injuries, deformities, etc. of the limbs and spine by fitting/designing/fabricating orthopedic braces and prosthetic limbs under the prescription of, and in consultation with, physicians by performing the following essential duties and responsibilities (other duties may be assigned): Examine, interview, and measure patients to determine their orthotic or prosthetic needs Fit, test, and evaluate devices on patients; make adjustments for proper fit, function, and comfort. Instruct patients in the use and care of orthoses/prostheses. Design orthopedic devices, based on physicians’ prescriptions and examination/measurement of patients. Maintain patients’ records. Cast patients and modify plaster molds as needed Select materials and components to be used based on device design. Confer with physicians to formulate specifications and prescriptions for orthopedic devices. Repair, rebuild, and modify orthotic and prosthetic devices. Construct and fabricate devices or direct others constructing the appliances. Complete hospital calls with a set on-call schedule Mentor and supervise Orthotic Fitters as needed Resolve complex patient complaints as needed on a clinical level and answer questions regarding policies and procedures Experience
- Immediate post-residency/Board Eligible up to any number of years in the field as a CPO
- Proficiency in patient care and medical terminology
- Ability to perform physical examinations and utilize aseptic techniques
- Strong knowledge of physiology and anatomy Qualifications
- ABC Certification as a Prosthetist Orthotist (or Board-Eligible CPO)
- Ability to perform all scope of practice duties listed by the American Board for Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics.
