POSITION SUMMARY

The role of the EMS Critical Care Paramedic is to provide expertpre-hospital emergency medical care and transportation for the sickand injured at the advanced practice level. The Critical CareParamedic will model a safety-first culture, focused on deliveringbest-in-class patient care and customer service as determined bythe policies, procedures, and standards of performance ofWilliamson Medical Center, in accordance with State regulations andaccepted standards of care. In addition, the CCPM must be able toserve as an operational and clinical team leader on any emergencymedical incident.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Formal Education /

Training:

Paramedic diploma or degree obtained from a college oruniversity. Tennessee Licensed Critical Care Paramedic BLS certification at time of employment ACLS and PALS certifications within six months of employment Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) within six months ofemployment Associates Degree Preferred Valid driver’s license in the state of residency; must beinsurable

Workplace Experience:

Minimum of two years emergency pre-hospital experiencepreferred.

Equipment and Skills Training:

Employees will participate in orientation and on-going educationand in-service training for all types of learning; to include adultlearning, clinical care, critical thinking, customer service,leadership, management, research, and resources used to effectivelyand efficiently accomplish each in the EMS environment. Employeesare required to complete annual education and in-service trainingfor all types of medical, trauma and behavioral emergencies andequipment used in all assessment, treatment and transportation ofpatients.

Physical Environment:

Potentially high-risk environment. Duties are performed indoors andoutdoors in all weather conditions, disaster and mass casualtyincidents. Patients may present with any of an unlimited number ofdiseases, illness, injuries, personalities and emotional states.

Environment includes operations of, and performing work functionswithin emergency vehicles, including ambulances. Prolonged exposureto temperature extremes may also be encountered.

Physical Effort:

Must be able to utilize devices for patient movement, including allfunctions of ambulance stretcher, with 250-pound weight, withpartner. Must be able to walk, crawl, stand, sit, climb, stoop, runand kneel to access patients. Must be able to carry patients andequipment over varying distances, terrain and up or down stairs.

Must be able to carry the EKG monitor and jump bag unassisted.
