A Brief Overview Responsible for the primary careof ill/ injured patients at the referring facility and duringtransports to the receiving facility. Responsible for relayinginformation regarding the patient condition to the medical controlphysician and working with team members and medical control todevelop an individualized, evidence based, plan of care for eachpatient. In addition, complies with Pedi-Flite policy andprocedure, hospital policies, and regulatory agency requirements.

What you will doWorks collaborately with other Pediflite team members to providehigh quality pre-hospital and inter-facility advanced criticalcare. Transports patients via ground or air while practicing inaccordance with philosophy, policies, procedures, and standards ofthe hospital. Functions within the guidelines of the protocols forthe transport program. Responsible for assisting the team leader inobtaining pertinent neonatal and child hood histories, performingphysical assessments and management plans. Performs necessarydiagnostic and therapeutic procedures within the scope of practiceof a paramedic. Identifies, plans, implements, and evaluates thestabilization of emergency care of the acutely ill neonates,infants, children, and/or adolescents as team lead or incollaboration with the team leader and medical control physicians.

Performs diagnosistic and therapeutic procedures as indicate foridentification and management of problems including airwaymanagement and assessment. This include but not limited toendotracheal intubation and mechanical ventilation. Functions as amedical flight member by attending pre-mission briefings andmission debriefings and completes necessary documentation. Assistsin pre-mission liftoff checklist and assists pilot as requested,i.e., radio, navigational, and visual observation activities.

Complies with safety standards to assure safety of self, medicalpersonnel, patient, and equipment. Conducts aircraft safetybriefings as needed. May perform as team leader and assist indelivery of patient care using age and developmentally appropriateinterventions according to individual licensure, departmentalprotocols, and standards of care. Demonstrates competencies thatincorporate age-specific guidelines, including N = Neonate (lessthan 30 days), I = Infant (30 days to 1 year), EC = Early Childhood(1-5 years), LC = Late Childhood (5-13 years), A = Adolescent(13-17 years), AD = Adult, and ALL = all ages. Demonstrates highcritical thinking and reasoning skills and strong attention todetail. Knowledgeable and competent in psychomotor skills outlinedunder the scope of practice of a Paramedic. Ability to understandand prepare moderately complex written materials, such as patientrecords. Ability to communicate verbally with associates,physicians, patients, family members, other outside professionals.

Ability to work without close supervision and to exerciseindependent judgment and critical thinking skills in both simpleand difficult situations. Ability to prioritize and organizemultiple tasks and projects to maintain control of workflow.

Ability to work independently and tolerate high stress levels.

Supervision Provided by this Position There are no supervisory orlead responsibilities assigned to this position. Physical DemandsThe physical activities of this position may include climbing,pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling,stooping, and repetitive motion.
