Overview The paramedic functions under the medical direction of the Medical Director and/or supervising ED attending with general supervision of the RN. The paramedic provides care for patients in accordance with physician’s orders, policies, procedures, established standards and administrative policies. Provides direct and indirect patient care while adhering to the mission and objectives of the hospital in order to meet the healthcare needs of patients and families. The paramedic will be responsible for collecting pertinent data within their certification scope of responsibilities and will report all clinical, psychosocial, etc. findings to the RN and ED Physician.
Qualifications Required Education:

GED or High School Diploma Preferred Education:
: Associates Degree (i.e. Allied Health Science, EMS, etc)
Necessary Skills:
: Demonstrated clinical competency as evidenced by completion of unit specific skills checklist.
Required Licensure/Certifications:
: Current State of Florida Paramedic License BLS Health Care Provider (American Heart Association) ACLS (American Heart Association) within 6 months of hire. PALS within 6 months of hire. NRP within 6 months of hire.
Required Experience:
: Less than one year as paramedic
Preferred Experience:
: 1-2 years paramedic experience in a hospital setting, previous EMS Dispatch experience, and/or 2 years ED patient care including triage experience
