Job Description

Allied Health Officer Randolph County Government 725 Mcdowell Road, Asheboro, NC 27205 Performs difficult technical, complex, and administrative work in planning, directing, and overseeing specialized services and programs offered by the department, including the Community Paramedic program and morgue operations. Performs intermediate skilled human support work by coordinating and communicating with various county departments, state and federal agencies, the NC Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, funeral and cremation services, physicians, tissue/organ donation services, and other healthcare-related organizations. Work involves interviews and assisting next-of-kin, determining lineage for medico-legal processes, and ensuring the constant readiness of the morgue and equipment. Will develop a mobile intensive community paramedic program to include policy and protocol management. Will provide direct supervision of community paramedics. Maintains an efficient plan to prepare for and respond to a mass-fatality incident. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Emergency Services EMS Assistant Operations Officer.

Minimum Education and Experience:

Two-year degree in related field and minimum of two years of experience working as a Paramedic or technician in a similar healthcare field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Comments:

NC Community Paramedic certification. North Carolina Office of Emergency Medical Services Paramedic certification. Local credentialing/re-credentialing. Emergency Vehicle Operation training. Hazmat Awareness training. Infection Control Officer training and certification(s) as required. Infection Control awareness and certifications as required. Incident Command System (ICS) certifications as required. Medico-legal training as required. NC Office of the Chief Medical Examiner medico-legal certification when required. Valid Driver’s License upon employment and have and maintain a valid driver’s license in the State of North Carolina within 60 days of employment.

Application Process:

All applicants will be required to complete an online Randolph County employment application. The deadline will be May 30, 2025. In addition, applicants will be required to provide a PowerPoint presentation, including research and data supporting the visional direction in which the applicant envisions the program being developed and implemented in Randolph County. Transcripts may be required. The process will also include oral interviews and may include advanced skills testing and/or presentation skills. The presentation, at minimum, should include: Defining the program’s scope and scope of practice for the Community Paramedic in Randolph County. List of local stakeholders. Local Community Paramedic requirements (plus state requirements) Target audiences, now and in the future. Cost benefits of the program. Equipment requirements for a Community Paramedic. Performance measurements and quality management projections. A sample list of subsidiary plans, policies, protocols, risks, scope management, etc. Again, this presentation should be about what you think our program should look like. The applicant will present it to an interview panel.
