The Paramedic will assist the Nursing and Physician staff in providing patient care in the Emergency Room Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, vision and standards.

  • Essential Functions:
  • Determines nature and extent of illness or injury and patient’s history from available sources.

Administers emergency medical care within scope of practice, including patient stabilization, monitoring, and resuscitation.

Works in collaboration with medical personnel, reports/records observations, and follows directives.

Maintains equipment, restocks supplies and cleans as necessary.

Recognition of critical presentation i.e. stroke, chest pain. Use of green/red bags.

IV starts. Blood and specimen collection.

Patient/family care needs and/or problems are promptly identified and addressed. Patients are regularly reassessed. Patient responses to interventions and treatments are evaluated and documented.

Under the supervision of physician or nurse, assists with performing patient reassessments.

Performs basic diagnostic procedures and specimen collection. Monitors and communicates changes in patient condition. Documents patient care given.

Maintains equipment and medical supplies, including reordering, stocking, cleaning and troubleshooting. Maintains examination areas.

Requests maintenance and biomed services in a timely manner.

Performs administrative or clerical duties as assigned, including filing, reception, scheduling, data entry and patient registration.

Assists with post mortem care including transport to the morgue.

Assists staff in ensuring that patient’s valuables and personal items are properly handled, secured and accounted for.

Documents allergies in RED in appropriate areas. Minimum EducationAssociate’s Degree or Vocational/Technical Diploma RequiredRequired SkillsRequires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
