Dedicated ALS Emergency unit for City of Cohoes.

Starting Pay:

$83,824 – $100,000 per year. Based on 4 12-hour shifts per week (48hours) @ $31.00-$37.01/hour. Rate at hire based on prior EMS,Paramedic and SCT/CC experience.• PLUS $10,000.00 ParamedicSign-on/Retention Bonus & an extra $2.00 per hour for weekendshifts (Friday night through Monday morning). Summary/ObjectiveEmployees in this job role serve as representatives for the companyin a variety of roles and situations. Under general oradministrative supervision, and acting independently, with othercounterparts in the same role, the Employee uses general methodsand procedures customary to the performance of the job to selectthe proper course of action in a given situation to perform thegeneral functions of their job. During the shift, the Employeecarries out general job functions/duties and serves as a modelemployee and key surveillance point for nascent issues that mayaffect operations and employee safety. This work requires knowledgeof the policies, procedures, and regulations that affect thecompany’s operations. These policies and procedures may exist inthe form of formal written guidance or through reasonablefamiliarity with the common practice that exists in a particularoperational area. Arrive punctually, fit, and readyfor work void of issues related to inadequate rest, currentillness, injury, or impairment by any medication or othersubstance. Must be capable of utilizing all EMT-B and AEMTintermediate skills and equipment. Must be able to perform underAdvanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Trauma Life Support(BTLS) standards. Must be knowledgeable and competent in the use ofa cardiac monitor/defibrillator and intravenous drugs and fluids.

Responds to calls when dispatched and may drive ambulance toemergency site using most expeditious route permitted by weatherand road conditions. Assesses the safety of the scene, gains accessto the patient, assesses extent of injury or illness. Communicateswith dispatcher requesting additional assistance or services asnecessary. Assesses and monitors vital signs and general appearanceof patient for change. Assists with lifting, carrying, and properlyloading patient into the ambulance. Reports verbally and in writingobservations of the patient’s emergency and care provided. Accountfor and inspect vehicle, equipment, and supplies. Resolve anyvehicle, equipment, and supplies issues, within their capability.

Representative Duties In addition to the essential functions of therole, the following are provided as representative duties performedby the Medical Technician. Relay operational issues regarding theircrew, vehicle, equipment, and supplies to the Shift Leader. Receivecomplaints from other agencies, facility staff, patients, families,and others affected by the company’s EMS operations, andimmediately notify the on-duty Shift Leader.

Qualifications Must have and maintain

NYS AEMT-P

certification.

Flexible availability on nights and weekends Have and maintainClass “D” New York State Driver License or higher or analogousequivalent from another jurisdiction without record of suspensionor revocation in any State. Must be deemed insurable to operate anemergency vehicle. General knowledge of company operationalpolicies. Must be at least 18 years of age prior to the last day ofthe month in which scheduled to take written certification exam.

Ability to communicate effectively via telephone and radioequipment. Ability to lift, carry and balance up to 125 pounds (250pounds with assistance) Ability to interpret oral, written, anddiagnostic form instructions. Ability to interview patients,patient family members and bystanders. Ability to document, inwriting, all relevant information in prescribed format in light oflegal ramifications of such. Ability to work with other providersto make appropriate patient care decisions. Minimum QualificationsMust currently be certified by the New York State Department ofHealth, Bureau of Emergency Medical Services as an AEMT-Paramedic.

Must be capable of utilizing EMT-B and AEMT intermediate skills andequipment Must be able to perform under Advanced Cardiac LifeSupport (ACLS) and Basic Trauma Life Support (BTLS) standards. Mustbe knowledgeable and competent in the use of a cardiacmonitor/defibrillator and intravenous drugs and fluids. TheEMT-Paramedic has reached the highest level of pre-hospital carecertification.
