Overview:
This person will provide non-credit instruction and evaluation in EMR/EMT course, using current skills and knowledge to promote student learning and active participation.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a related discipline Preferred
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS EMT
- Emergency Medical Tech Certification Pennsylvania Department of Health certification Required Pennsylvania Department of Health certification as an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) Required
PARAMEDIC
- Paramedic
- Licensed Pennsylvania Department of Health certification Required BCLS
- Basic Life Support American Heart Association credentials Preferred ACLS American Heart Association credentials in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Preferred PALS
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support Preferred ITLS
- Advanced Trauma Life Support Trauma credentials in International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) Preferred Trauma credentials in Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) Preferred Pennsylvania Department of Health certification as an EMT Instructor Required
EXPERIENCE
Three (3) years of emergency medical services experience Required Successful teaching experience Preferred Experience with distance education and alternative teaching methodologies Preferred
ABILITIES AND SKILLS
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form. Required Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and courteously with students, staff, faculty, the medical community, and the public. Required Developed organizational skills. Required Current understanding of the National EMS Education. Required Standards for Emergency Medical Responder and Emergency Medical Technician. Required Competency with psychomotor skills within the Scope of Practice for Emergency Medical
- Responder and Emergency Medical Technician provider levels.
Required Knowledge and understanding of educational theory.
Preferred Responsibilities:
Facilitate participant’s utilization and integration of online learning resources within face-to-face instruction. Provide laboratory instruction and coverage in the EMR/EMT Program. Evaluate student performance in EMR/EMT courses.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Engage in professional development and technological upgrading activities. In conjunction with program staff, assess equipment, instrument and supply needs of the program, obtain specifications and make recommendations for procurement as requested by the Program Director.
