Patient Navigator Overview:
A Patient Navigator plays a critical role in guiding patients through the complexities of the healthcare system. This position requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, insurance processes, and electronic medical records, with experience in Epic being highly beneficial. Patient Navigators must demonstrate excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills to effectively coordinate care, relay information between providers and patients, and address any barriers to treatment. The ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and remain composed under pressure is essential. Above all, a commitment to patient-centered care and a dedication to service excellence are fundamental to success in this role.
Principal Accountabilities:
(including but not limited to) + Serve as the first point of contact for newly referred oncology patients. + Coordinate and schedule initial oncology consultations, diagnostic procedures, and follow-up appointments. + Initiate and obtain insurance prior authorizations for oncology-related services (e.g., imaging, procedures, infusions). + Collaborate closely with physicians, nurse navigators, schedulers, and financial counselors to ensure timely access to care. + Communicate with patients to review upcoming appointments, documentation needs, and insurance approvals. + Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR). + Monitor scheduling timelines and insurance authorization status to prevent delays in care. + Identify and escalate barriers to care such as insurance denials, scheduling conflicts, or transportation needs. + Participate in oncology care team meetings and patient case reviews as needed.

+ Full time, Days + Monday – Friday + 8:30am – 4:30pm
Required:
+ High school diploma or equivalent required
Preferred:
+ Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred. + Minimum 2 years of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in oncology or a related specialty. + Certification in healthcare navigation or patient access (preferred). + Prior experience in scheduling, insurance verification, and prior authorization processing strongly preferred.
