Job Description

Recovery Support Specialist – Full time, 7a-7:30p. Recovery Support Specialist, RSS, will assist in delivering care throughout Wellbridge and are responsible for providing support for the day-to-day in-patient clinical and nursing needs. Carries out the Wellbridge vision, promotes service standards and creates a patient-focused caring environment while addressing and meeting the individual needs of all patients. Fosters an environment of collaboration and respect with providers, nurses, therapists, counselors, and other healthcare team members.

Responsibilities include:

Provide direct care and support to patients in all programs level of care. Includes but not limited to reporting of patient medical concern or medical observation concern, point-of-care testing, biometrics, echocardiograms (EKG), specimen collection, activities of daily living (ADL’s), mobility assistance, language services, observation checks, witness to skin assessment, medical observation, psychiatric observation, patient transfers, discharges, and assist with medical procedures. Monitor and assist patients in adhering to treatment plans, daily schedules, and medical appointments. Conduct belongings and room searches. Provide unit orientation. Provides overview of programs rules and regulations. Facilitate therapeutic groups to address topics relevant to substance use disorders, and recovery. Facilitate and support patients with transportation to off-premises events and escort patients to off-site appointments. Responds and implements crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques when necessary. Assists in medical and psychiatric emergency situations as directed and needed. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated and effective care. Provide non-clinical counseling and emotional support to patients, promoting a therapeutic and empathetic environment. Timely medical record documentation of interventions, progress, and incidents. Monitors medical supply PAR levels and replenishes stock. Implements mitigation strategies and routinely reassesses. Participate in regular clinical team meetings. Makes recommendations for growth and development. Support a culture of high quality of care. Model the Wellbridge philosophy of patient-centeredness, empowerment, and cultural proficiency and seek supervision from clinical staff. Recognizes the need for patient care to be delivered in a culturally sensitive manner and models sensitivity to all staff.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications Four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent. General knowledge of substance uses and/or mental health disorders. BLS within 60 days of hire. Demonstrated communication, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills. Current NYS driver’s license and clean driving record. Preferred Qualifications Current BLS certification. Certified Recovery Peer Advocate, CRPA. Completion of a Nurse Assistant Program or 1st year nursing program completion. Familiarity with all relevant healthcare standards: OASAS, ASAM, Knowledge of Self-Help Programs, Mutual Support groups Programs, and 12-step programs. Completion of a mental health, social health care or nursing assistant program. Specific experience with substance use disorders.
