This downtown Stuart hospital provides top-quality patient care to the communities in and around Martin County on the beautiful Indian River. The caregivers at Martin North Hospital have made it an excellent medical facility and a home away from home. As a Patient Transporter, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional service as you play an essential role in helping patients receive the care they need. Patient transporters quickly become familiar with all areas of the hospital while leaving lasting impressions on patients and visitors. A caregiver in this position works varying shifts. A caregiver who excels in this role will: Transport patients to and from clinical, ancillary and support areas using wheelchairs, stretchers or beds, including patients with oxygen tanks, intravenous pumps, drips and special equipment. Transfer patients to and from beds, wheelchairs or stretchers. Transport patients during discharge to the hospital lobby. Ensure proper oxygen levels in tanks before transporting patients. Approach and aid patients and visitors. Verify and confirm standard precautions and correct patient identification by comparing information from the pager and patient wristband to obtain the correct medical chart and verify proper mode of transportation. Disinfect and maintain equipment. Perform environmental and safety checks, identify malfunctioning equipment, document findings and report malfunctioning equipment. Move and deliver equipment and linen carts. Complete three months of on-the-job training to learn multiple hospital and clinic locations, special procedures, patient and safety emergency procedures and proper body mechanics to safely move patients. Physical Requirements:
