Relies on establish guidelines to accomplish tasks. Works under close supervision. If associated with Cardiovascular/Critical Care Services, maintains Critical Care waiting room area by ordering supplies, and maintains patient list with patient condition information and updates patient information every four hours. Provides privacy for physicians and family members in times of crisis consultation in an effort to promote the provision of high quality and compassionate patient care services. If associated with Radiology (at OLOL), accurately and promptly processes and files incoming data, as needed, and periodically removes outdated files according to established policies and procedures and contributes to student education and supervision by demonstrating and communicating aspects of the competency based clinical education plan and supports the education process within the department in an effort to promote the provision of high-quality patient care services. Keeps wheelchairs and stretchers clean, made-up, and stored appropriately, and stocks dressing areas with clean linens in order to ensure availability at all times. Maintains accurate patient care documentation on logs, CIS, and sign in/out sheets in an effort to enhance unit operational efficiency. Notifies appropriate personnel when patient care problems arise (e.g., non-operable I.V.s, cardiac arrest) in a timely manner. Utilizes all equipment, supplies, facilities, and resources in a prudent and efficient manner in order to ensure efficient departmental operations and the provision of high-quality health care services. Observes and adheres to all departmental and hospital policies and procedures, and follows all safety, quality assurance, and infection control standards. Participates in educational programs, in-service meetings, and training sessions in an effort to share his/her own expertise with others and further the quality of education and personal growth provided to new personnel, volunteers, and interning students. Greets, welcomes, and directs patients, family members, and visitors to the hospital and escorts patients to their rooms or ancillary areas. Transports patients to and from designated areas of the hospital in a caring, considerate, expedient, and professional manner. Ensures that patients have identification bracelets before transportation and demonstrates compassion and respect in all contacts with patients, family members, and fellow employees. Receives and expediently delivers supplies, linens, spinal fluid, and other lab work to appropriate unit as requested. Collects soiled linens from linen storage areas, efficiently sorts linens into separate loads, and transports linen to Linen Services for processing in a timely manner.
