CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. Transports patients and performs courier duties within the hospital.
2. Assists clinical personnel to transport patients as needed.
3. Utilizes safety measures and proper body mechanics appropriate to the ages of the patients served when transporting patients.
4. Identifies patients appropriate to the ages of patients served before transporting according to Patient Transport Policy
5. Greets and introduces self to patient appropriate to the ages of patients served in a friendly, courteous manner.
6. Will maintain constant contact with other transporters via the use of Avaya phones
7. Displays a positive attitude with visitors and co-workers according to the standards of conduct policy
8. Maintains confidentiality of patient information.
9. Utilizes proper telephone etiquette at all times.
10. Documents patient arrival and departure time on log sheet.
11. Immediately labels and takes faulty equipment to Maintenance Department for repair.
12. Inspects environment to identify safety hazards and reports appropriately.
13. Takes faulty equipment out of service immediately
14. Follows proper procedures for transporting equipment, supplies, and specimens.
15. Other duties as assigned.

2. Ability to lift and/or carry up to 25 pounds and push/pull over 50 pounds.

2. Efficiency in processing of verbal information, either in written or spoken form is a major requirement and prerequisite of the job.
3. Some independent thought, planning or origination of options and solutions is necessary.
4. Ability to apply principles of reasoning and problem solving to resolve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
