JOB DESCRIPTION
Performs a variety of duties related to the management and operations of the Pharmacy department, in order to maintain and improve its services to our patients. Works in a collaborative manner with executive staff, other leaders and teams to achieve desired goals and complete assigned projects, implement services, and promote effective drug therapy. Is responsible for ensuring that the pharmacy meets all legal, accreditation, and certification requirements, and complies with all applicable policies, procedures, codes, and standards established by the hospital and the Pharmacy Board.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Team
Staffs the department according to the labor standards to achieve pharmaceutical care standards according to current practice guidelines.
Develops and maintains policies, procedures, and formularies according to Medical Staff guidelines to assure pharmaceuticals are available to the guests.
Directs and manages all clinical activities of the pharmacists. Reviews the performance and documentation of clinical activities of all pharmacists including documentation of the financial impact of clinical activities.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Service
Develops and maintains action plans for performance improvement measures in all aspects of pharmaceutical care and documents education, training, and accountability to these measures.
Quality
Monitors drug therapy of selected patients for contraindications, drug-drug interactions, drug-food interactions, adverse drug reactions and appropriateness of drug and dose.
Prepares and presents drug reviews, antibiotic sensitivity reports, adverse drug reaction reports, pharmacy intervention reports, and other reports as requested to the appropriate committees.
Collaborates with Senior Leadership Team and develops plans to incorporate pharmacy initiatives with the strategic plan.
Stewardship
Develops operating and capital budgets for immediate and projected staff, equipment and supplies within timeframes set by administration.
Provides clinical consultation and clarification to practitioners. Suggests appropriate, cost-effective therapeutic alternatives to medical staff as needed.
Growth
Provides training and education to pharmacists regarding pharmaceutical care and programs.
QUALIFICATIONS 5
years in Pharmacy experience
License Requirements:
Licensed as a pharmacist in Mississippi Current and unrestricted Pharmacy Licensure
