Job Description

This is a full-time evening position with every third weekend. Flexibility in working different hours is required to provide proper support during training, if need arises. The candidate will be training all pharmacist positions. This hybrid role enables pharmacist to be an educator while maintaining the skills of a hospital pharmacist through weekly staffing requirements

Hospital Pharmacist Job Functions:

Review patient profiles to assure safe and effective medication therapy Responsible for dispensing of medications, monitoring and reporting drug safety based on current clinical and institutional guidelines, as well as patient-specific criteria Oversees technician practice/activities as per regulatory requirements. Responsible for mediation storage and documentation Actively participates in clinical services (e.g., stewardships, cost-effective, patient experience) Adheres to safety requirements in the handling and preparation of sterile and non-sterile medications and other hazardous agents according to current guidelines (USP 797, USP 800, ASHP, NIOSH) Communicates effectively and appropriately with healthcare providers and caregivers and assures continuity of pharmaceutical care between shifts and among team members Educator Pharmacist Job Functions Participates in the training, education and mentoring of other pharmacists and technicians Participates in quality, safety and other project work related to medication management Create and oversee ongoing training processes, including new hire orientation, pharmacist competencies, and new educational initiatives Participate in P&T and education committees Serve as a preceptor and mentor for pharmacists, residents and students Education/ Experience Graduated from accredited school of pharmacy required Current NJ Board of Pharmacy license required 2 years of hospital experience with strong working knowledge of electronic medical record
