This is an excellent leadership role for an experienced and driven pharmacist ready to oversee pharmacy operations while ensuring compliance with all applicable state and federal laws.
Official Job Description:
The Pharmacist In Charge is responsible for managing all pharmacy activities and ensuring full compliance with internal procedures, SOPs, and regulatory requirements. Reporting directly to the COO, the PIC will lead the safe, efficient, and accurate supply of medications to client facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Review and verify medication orders for appropriate drug, dosage, interactions, and administration methods Ensure medications are properly dispensed, labeled, and documented Supervise pharmacy staff in preparation and dispensing of medications Provide consultation and make therapeutic recommendations to prescribers and facility staff Maintain and update patient databases including medical history and clinical data Investigate and resolve medication-related inquiries Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals Maintain records of controlled substances and ensure inventory compliance Safeguard medications with appropriate security measures Fulfill on-call duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Active Pharmacist license in the State of New York (required) 5-10 years of combined experience in hospital and retail pharmacy settings Long Term Care (LTC) experience highly preferred Excellent clinical judgment and problem-solving abilities Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills Proficient in pharmacy software systems (Framework/ECM is a plus) High attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment Ready to take the lead?
