Job Summary:
Knowledgeable and capable of performing any pharmaceutical duty in the hospital pharmacy department and throughout the hospital including all satellite pharmacies. Fulfills professional responsibility in dispensing, procurement, control, and consultation involved with medication. Pharmacists must utilize a growth and development knowledge base in medication for children (pediatric), adolescent, and geriatric patients. Possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his/her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed. Supervises and directs support personnel, including pharmacy students and pharmacy technician students Included within this role assignment is the responsibility to be a positive role model for all peers always reflecting the WE CARE philosophy. Will serve and assist as team leader during any Mass Disaster. This position covers vacation/sick time/vacancies for pharmacists. Fills vacancies in shifts when needed regardless of area, hours, day, night, etc.. Must be available to work any shift and at any last minute notice (day, night, holiday, weekend) May be called in from PTO or holiday plans in the event there is an unforeseen emergency that arises and coverage is needed STAT If required to cover nights, this does not exempt working days prior to and after working nights. If you choose to voluntarily work on the weekend, this does not exempt working the required Monday through Friday if coverage is needed. Perform other job duties as assigned.
Performance Expectations:
Performance expectations will be covered in the orientation and preceptor phases of your orientation to your job. Demonstrates basic understanding of the 340b program. Demonstrates basic or advanced knowledge of USP 797 compliance. Demonstrates knowledge and competency in treatment of stroke patients using Alteplase. Demonstrates effective communication skills and interaction with staff. Demonstrates initiative to maintain/meet licensure and certification requirements. Demonstrates ability to complete and fulfill duties of a pharmacist. Demonstrates understanding of USP 800 compliance.
Qualifications:
Education/Skills Graduate of an accredited school of pharmacy required. Must have 4 hours of stroke education annually.
Work Experience:
Preferred but not required. Certification/Licensure-DUE
UPON HIRE
Registration with the Mississippi State Board of Pharmacy. Additional Certification/Licensure – Obtained based on required timeframe below Basic Life Support (Within 180 Days of Employment Preferred) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (Within 180 Days of Employment Preferred)
