PHARMACIST POSITION SUMMARY
The Pharmacist is responsible formaintaining standards of professional and ethical practice in theprovision ofpharmaceutical services within the institution.
PHARMACIST MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Must hold a valid Pharmacist licensein the state of Mississippi.
Must be a supportive team member whocontributes to and demonstrates teamwork and team concept.
Able tomake independent decisions when circumstances warrant suchaction.
Able to deal tactfully with personnel, family members,visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the generalpublic.
Possess leadership and supervisory ability and be able towork harmoniously with and supervise other personnel.
Must not posea direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in theworkplace
PHARMACIST ESSENTIAL
FUNCTIONSMaintain all pharmacyrecords as required by Federal/State law and departmentpolicy.
Respond to emergencies and critical incidents at theinstitution.
Dispense all pharmaceuticals.
Recognize and reportpossible synergistic, antagonistic, or cumulative effects ofdrugs.
Provide consultation to staff regarding pharmaceuticals.
Checkexpiration date of pharmaceuticals and return/dispose of outdatedpharmaceuticals and non-returnable goods.
Responsible for purchasingand inventory levels of all pharmaceuticals includingover-the-counter medications.
Orient, instruct, and supervise allpharmacy personnel.
Maintain monthly statistical information andreports as directed by administration.
Perform quarterly inspectionof aspects of pharmaceutical services and assist in problem-solvingactivities.
Attend training and meetings as required.
Other duties asassigned.
