Develops therapeutic drug policy through medical literure evaluion and the applicion of pharmacoeconomic principles and methods. Evalues and ensures optimal, cost-effective medicion regimens through analysis of medicion profiles, laborory da, medical and social da and/or direct pient observion or interaction. Assures the safe, approprie, cost-effective use of drugs through the applicion of specialized knowledge and interpretion of da specific to each pient and utilizes tactful interactions with other professionals. Develops and implements initiives for cost containment and documents and reports the outcome of initiives. Reports and documents cost avoidance resulting from clinical intervention activities. Actively participes in cost savings/avoidance activities by promoting choice of appropried formulary options. May also participe in supporting nional/VISN cost savings goals. Actively participes in the educion of Health Care System staff, pharmacy students, pharmacy residents, medical interns, and medical residents. Works diligently to build relionships with pients as well as pharmacy, nursing, and medical staff.

Licensure :
Full, current and unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in a Ste, Territory, Commonwealth of the United Stes (i.e., Puerto Rico), or the District of Columbia. The pharmacist must maintain current registrion if this is a requirement for maintaining full, current, and unrestricted licensure. A pharmacist who has, or has ever had, any license(s) revoked, suspended, denied, restricted, limited, or issued/placed in a probionary stus may be appointed only in accordance with the provisions in VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Chapter 3, section B, paragraph 16.

Individuals who have or have had multiple licenses and had any such license revoked for professional misconduct, professional incompetence or substandard care, or who surrendered such license after receiving written notice of potential terminion of such license by the Ste for professional misconduct, professional incompetence, or substandard care, are not eligible for appointment to the position unless such revoked or surrendered license is fully restored (38 U.S.C. § 7402(f)).
