Responsibilities 1. Maintains clinical practice skills and competently functions ina staffing role, which may include credentialing as a clinicalpharmacist practitioner. Time allotted to staffing is typically40-60% and includes every 3rd weekend and holiday rotation. 2. Accountable for the safety and quality of pharmacy servicesdelivered for area. Actively participates in department andhospital wide continuous quality improvement programs, reports andmanages medication errors. 3. Assists in establishing and designing goals for teams. EnsuresPharmacy representation on institutional committees and supportscommittee participation by team leaders and members. 4. Supervises Team Leaders. Provides, coordinates, and evaluates staff developmentopportunities for team leaders and members. Mentors staff throughteam building and education. 5. Collaborates with AD of Clinical Services to evaluate staffperformance and conduct annual performance evaluations as well asdisciplinary actions. 8. Participates in the budgetary process and monitors drugexpenditures in area cost centers. Participates in the development of new programs, services andpractices; develops metrics to track impact. 9. Serves, manages and supports internal and externalcustomers. 6. Supports educational mission of VMC and Department of Pharmacythrough training of students and residents. 7. Ensures compliance with all mandated federal, state and hospitalpolicies/laws that are relevant to this position; Oversees reviewand revisions of pharmacy policies and procedures. 10.
Completetion Required:
a. Obtains Continuing Education credits as required by the NorthCarolina Board of Pharmacy b. Maintains active NC pharmacy license and provides proof ofrenewal prior to December 31 annually. c. Maintains active BLS certification and provides proof of renewalbi-annually. d. Successfully completes all annual department competencyassessments. e. Completes the T JC annual requirements and occupational healthscreening. f. Complies with all state and federal laws and regulationsgoverning the practice of pharmacy Minimum Requirements American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)Certification College Degree plus other schooling is required. BS, MS or PharmDin Pharmacy. Must be licensed as a pharmacist by the NC Board of Pharmacy bystart date. Minimum of two years post-graduate experience or completion of PGY2Administrative residency required. Managerial/Supervisory experience preferred.
