Summary Job Summary:

Provide leadership, structure, and motivation to a specific service area of the pharmacy and manage
assigned staff.
Interact and collaborate with other Moffitt departments and programs.
Support all cancer center staff engaged in medication related activity, including patient care, research, education, and
business.
Supervisors are required to provide staff coverage at a minimum clinical oncology pharmacist
position level.

The ideal candidate:

Working knowledge of the administrative, clinical and technical functioning of a cancer center pharmacy. Prior management experience and a clinical background in cancer related areas.
Previous involvement in fields of patient safety, performance improvement, data collection required, and regulatory or accreditation processes is desired. Will hold a Pharm D. education

Responsibilities:

Supervise and coordinate the operations of pharmacy services in areas of assigned
responsibility, recommending policy, and ensuring thorough integration with other departments of the
cancer center. Represent the pharmacy in hospital management meetings ensuring that all medication
related issues and services include pharmacy consideration. Ensure that quality, safety, regulatory,
financial, and legal standards are met for the benefit of optimal patient care and so the cancer center is in
a state of perpetual readiness for inspections and audits. Provide leadership within the cancer center for
assessing the clinical and financial components of cancer care to determine the value of therapy that is
provided. Assist with developing budgets, ensuring compliance and providing recommendations for midyear
adjustments as required for emerging trends and needs. Assist with managing a progressive quality
improvement effort focusing on area of assigned responsibility. Assist with the recruiting, hiring,
developing, and motivating of department staff within assigned area, and provide performance
evaluations and disciplinary action following Moffitt policy.
Collaborate with and provide support to cancer center clinical programs and departments, ensuring that pharmacy is fully integrated into our multi-disciplinary, individualized patient care, and total
cancer care philosophies.
Monitor healthcare trends and make recommendations for change and improvement to
ensure Moffitt is a leader in cancer care. Provide leadership to staff and the cancer center in the
understanding of new trends and developing strategies to incorporate new concepts into Moffitt practice.
Participate in outside professional activities and ensure that Moffitt is recognized as a leader for
progressive pharmacy. Assist with the development and administer progressive educational programs for
staff, students, patients, affiliates and the community.

Credentials and qualifications:

Registered as a Pharmacist (RPh)
Bachelor’s degree
Minimum equivalent of 3 years of oncology pharmacy experience (3 years of oncology experience or completion of Oncology Specialty residency)
Experience with the medication use process in a hospital and/or clinic setting
