Job Description
The Pharmacy Technician works with the outpatient Medical Center pharmacists in the preparation and distribution of medications. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Maintains pharmacy medication storage areas for cleanliness, organization, and expiration. Maintains stock rotation and medication date checking. Accepts written prescriptions or refill requests from patients. Records medical histories while maintaining confidentiality. Delivers quality customer service to patients while responding to questions or requests. Verifies the accuracy of patient information. Counts appropriate medications, places them in the appropriate container, creates outpatient pharmacy labels, and places complete prescriptions in designated area for the pharmacist to verify. Participates in inventory audits. Processes patient insurances. High school diploma or GED required. Pharmacy Technicians shall maintain, in good standing, the appropriate registration with the Alabama State Board of Pharmacy. Monday – Friday Every other weekend
