The Supervisor, Pharmacy Technician shall be responsible for the supervision of the department?s Pharmacy Technicians. This individual will assist with hiring, on-going training, scheduling and time-keeping, and annual performance evaluations. The Supervisor will oversee technical operations and staff, who perform complex, specialized duties regarding automated dispensing machines, robotics, repackaging devices, and medication preparation. Additionally, the Supervisor shall facilitate teamwork and good interdepartmental relationships and collaborate with other health care disciplines and support the needs of the patients and families. The Supervisor shall maintain confidentiality of patient, staff, department, and hospital information. The Supervisor will participate in continuous quality improvement. This individual shall demonstrate the ability to perform competencies as outlined in Pharmacy Technician Competency Assessment tool. The Supervisor may, periodically, be responsible for performing basic Pharmacy Technician duties and more advanced Pharmacy Technician duties based on department specific needs or location. This position may have additional duties assigned as needed.
Qualifications
High School graduate or equivalent required. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Minimum 7 years experience for practice setting. Proficient in needed pharmaceutical calculations and the metric system.
Alabama Board of Pharmacy License required.
Certification by a National Pharmacy Technician Certification Board required
Ability to maintain a professional and customer- centric composure in difficult or challenging situations
Ability to prioritize workload to achieve maximum efficiency
Ability to effectively communicate with people throughout the organization
Ability to provide a positive customer service experience
Knowledge of HIPAA standards and regulations
Ability to accurately type and perform assigned computer duties
Proficient in needed pharmaceutical calculations, the metric system and if applicable, cash register use
Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and competency with Microsoft Outlook for email communication
Competent with pharmacy systems and related technology and equipment for practice setting
