Pharmacy Technicians are responsible for performing most of the technical functions involved in the medication use process. This individual shall assist the Pharmacist in the preparation and compounding of pharmaceutical products, assessing inventory of pharmacy products, and resolving problems with insurance claims as they arise during the dispensing function, as applicable to location. Cross training in one key functional area [examples provided in Technician Career Ladder]. The Pharmacy Technician III shall train new staff, and cross train in two key functional areas. This position may have additional duties assigned as needed. Qualifications High school graduate or equivalent GED required. 3 years of pharmacy technician experience. Current registration with the Alabama Board of Pharmacy and CPhT certification required. Ability to maintain a professional and customer- centric composure in difficult or challenging situations. Ability to prioritize workload to achieve maximum efficiency. Ability to effectively communicate with people throughout the organization. Ability to provide a positive customer service experience. Knowledge of HIPAA standards and regulations. Ability to accurately type and perform assigned computer duties. Proficient in needed pharmaceutical calculations, the metric system and if applicable, cash register use. Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and competency with Microsoft Outlook for email communication. Competent with pharmacy systems and related technology and equipment for practice setting.
